TOPIC: Obey Instructions
MEMORISE: If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:, – Isaiah 1:19
READ: Joshua 24:15
- And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
MESSAGE:
One of the major issues God had with the children of Israel was their inability to obey the instructions that He gave to their leaders at different times. Today, history is repeating itself as people find it difficult to obey God. Some Christians think that they can sin willfully and later ask God for forgiveness, but the truth is God is not mocked; He will always reward those who obey Him in spirit and in truth.
Joshua was one of the young men who followed Moses closely when they journeyed to the Promised Land. He had learnt so much from Moses that he said in Joshua 24:15: “…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Can your parents confidently attest that you are serving the Lord? Are you pleasing Him by obeying His instructions and doing His will? If this is not your testimony, I implore you to go on your knees now and ask Him for forgiveness.
PRAYER POINT: Father, please give me a heart of obedience to Your will at all times.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Jeremiah 23:21-25:38; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17
HYMN 35: ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus
- ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
- O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood! - Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace. - I’m so glad I learn’d to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend,
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
