METHODIST CHURCH NIGERIA
WEEKLY ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL/TONIC MANUAL
WEEK/TONIC 39
TOPIC: OVERTAKEN BY WICKEDNESS
TEXT: ESTHER 7: 1-6, 9-10
OBJECTIVE
To show that wickedness has consequences.
INTRODUCTION
The spate of wickedness in our generation is alarming; it is amazing how far people can go in demonstrating wickedness. Many people these days are uncontrollable in their wicked plots and schemes that one would wonder what they gain from being wicked.
Even in the church, the trend of wickedness is so much that some brethren no longer show compassion toward others. The truth is, those that feed tigers may likely end up in the belly of the tiger. The wicked people, whether clergy and lay, shall be overtaken by their own wickedness, according to the word of God. The days of the wicked are numbered and soon their own wickedness shall overtake them.
POINTS FOR CONVERSATION
1. What action and heart disposition of a man can be regarded as wickedness? Esther 5: 7-14
2. What are the consequences of wickedness? Isaiah 3: 11, 1Thes 1: 9, Ps. 34, 21, 11: 6, Job 34: 26.
3. How shall the wicked be overtaken? Proverbs 5: 22, Proverbs 10: 25, Ps 37: 38
CONCLUSION
What happened to the wicked Haman in the book of Esther is a representation of what would happen unrepentant wicked people. We are witnessing a rare damaging trend of wickedness that leaves one wishing that Jesus should come right now. Stop wickedness today to avoid being overtaken by your wickedness. The word of God is here to reprove us unto righteousness, so that wickedness will be dispelled in the body of Christ. We still have the opportunity to make amends today, tomorrow might be too late.
